Be part of the Milford Sound Lodge story
Milford Sound Lodge isn’t just a place to work - it’s a place to be part of something special. For nearly 90 years, our lodge has evolved from a rugged workers' camp into one of New Zealand’s most unique and remote hospitality destinations. And that transformation has only been possible because of the people who’ve called this place home - even if just for a season.
Today, our team is made up of passionate individuals who value adventure, community, and creating unforgettable guest experiences in one of the most breathtaking environments on Earth.
We’ve weathered storms, grown through hard work, and built a legacy of excellence. And we’re not finished yet.

The Work
Milford Sound Lodge is a small but busy operation, and every role plays an important part in creating an exceptional guest experience. We hire for a range of roles across the lodge, and while experience is great, we value a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn above all.
Roles
Housekeeping
Keep our chalets and facilities looking their best. This physically active role involves cleaning guest rooms and communal spaces to a high standard. A great eye for detail and pride in your work are essential. No experience? No problem - we’ll train you.
Kitchen Team
Join the team behind Pio Pio Restaurant. You’ll work with fresh, local ingredients in a supportive and well-structured kitchen. Ideal for those who enjoy working in a positive kitchen team environment and take pride in great food.
Front of House / Guest Services
Be the face of Milford Sound Lodge. From greeting guests at reception to running dinner service in our restaurant, this is a varied and people-focused role. You'll need great communication skills, a calm manner, and a genuine interest in helping people have an unforgettable stay.
Are you our next team member?
We operate in an extraordinary part of the world, and we look for team members who are just as special. For many of our guests, visiting Milford Sound is a once-in-a-lifetime moment - and we’re here to make it seamless, memorable, and filled with genuine Kiwi hospitality.
We’re after people who go the extra mile:
offering thoughtful service
sharing helpful local advice
and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere
A role at Milford Sound Lodge is more than a job - it’s a lifestyle. We live and work together on-site, and we treat each other like family. That means being a great team player, pitching in, and showing up with a positive, can-do attitude.
If you’re relaxed, friendly, and love the outdoors, you’ll fit right in. A passion for Fiordland (or a willingness to learn about it) is a big plus - our guests rely on our personal knowledge to help them experience the best this incredible place has to offer.
